Buying data center space

How to get data center pricing, and why providers don't publish it

There's no data center price list. Every number comes from formally requesting a quote for your business, and if you ask one provider at a time you'll wait longest and learn the least. Spec it once and put it in front of several providers at once.

Stop looking for a rate card#

Every data center deal gets priced on its own. Big global providers, mid-tier and regional ones: all quote through a sales engineer, based on the capacity they have available and their power rates. Every bid is a custom spec.

You might see average per-kilowatt costs published, but those are blended, and they're negotiable. Your price also depends on how badly they want the deal and what the other bids look like. A published card would give all that away.

So you start knowing less than the person across the table. Our bid-process guide shows you how to close that gap.

Don't trust a price you find online#

Any data center price posted online is an analyst's average, a forum post, or someone's memory of an old deal. That's why we don't publish per-provider price ranges. Lean on one and you'll anchor to the wrong number.

Get a quote without the runaround#

Getting a quote alone usually means the runaround. A first-call rep, then an account rep, then a tour. Only then do you learn if the building can take you.

Then the only thing you learn is that the data center's at full capacity, with no availability for what can be 18 months out, and you've wasted all that time. Clectiv AI gets you the answers faster, without the wasted time.

Most of the drag is a vague plan. Our guide to making providers compete walks through it. Two moves fix it:

  • Show up with the spec done. Committed power in kilowatts or megawatts (kW or MW), and footprint (racks, a cage or a private room). Add backup level, term, and the networks and clouds you need. Our power planning guide gets you to the kW number.
  • Set the shape of the quote. Power, space and connections, each broken out. Our bid-process guide lists the line items.

Fewer calls, sharper question. That's your leverage in a quote-only market.

Common questions#

How do I get data center pricing?#
Ask for it, because no provider publishes a rate card. Spec your power, backup level, term and connections. Get power, space and connections priced separately, then send that same spec to several providers at once.
Why don't data centers publish their pricing?#
Every deal gets priced on its own. Price depends on power, term, backup level, how much the provider wants the deal, and the competing bids. That's true of big and small providers alike.
Can I get a data center quote without talking to sales?#
Every provider routes pricing through a sales engineer, so there's no way around it directly. Skip the one-at-a-time grind: spec it once and send it to several providers together, and you'll get quotes you can actually compare.
Is there a platform that gets data center pricing from every provider at once without sales calls?#
Clectiv AI is built for that. Scope your project yourself, without a sales call, and it goes to every fitting provider at once. Comparable quotes come back in one place in days, not months.

How Clectiv AI solves this#

Doing this on your own means months of chasing reps, one at a time. Every call starts from scratch, and every provider knows they're the only one in the room.

With Clectiv AI, it's days, not months. Tell us about your project once, and it goes to every provider that fits, at the same time. They know they're competing, so their best numbers come back side by side.

You start where others finished, with 20+ years of buyer-side deals and our own data on 2,200+ buildings behind your request.
